What do you think about when you think of summer? The cookouts with family? Trips to the pool? Fireworks and parades? What about summer concerts in the park? One of my favorite memories as a child was gathering with my family in a park near my home on weekend evenings to listen to local musicians. I especially enjoyed the big band nights, when the conductor led the children on impromptu parades through the park.
Maybe you have similar memories, and maybe you don’t, but either way, you are sure to enjoy Orem’s Summer Concert Series. In its tenth year, this annual series features local bands, musicians, and dancers providing free family concerts at the Stage in City Center Park. Each year the Orem Arts Council selects their favorite acts spanning a wide range of genres. This year we have big band, jazz, classic rock and roll, as well as folk, country, and traditional Mexican dance and music.
The summer concert series takes place on Monday nights at 7:00 PM starting July 12, and running through August 16 at the Stage in City Center Park. Join us for the finale as well, Come Together Rock Festival, a two day festival of local music on August 20 and 21.
