Where the Crawdads Sing follows two storylines: Kya Clark, a young girl who was abandoned by her family and shunned by the town soon after, and the murder investigation of town playboy, Chase Andrews. Readers slowly get to know the two characters and see how their lives are connected.
This was a very interesting read! It’s part mystery, part history, and part adventure — a good book for any kind of reader. The characters are complex and intriguing. The book is set in the marshes of North Carolina, and the writing is so beautiful and visual. I felt like I was there, and I want to visit the area now. This book is worth reading.
The film adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing came out recently, and I went to see it to compare the film and the book. I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was a good adaptation. Some events happen in a different order than in the book, but I think they were good changes. The actors were well chosen, and they portrayed their characters true to the book. I would recommend the film, but I think it’s probably better if you’ve read the book first.
