The Four Winds

By Kristin Hannah
Adult Fiction

There is a certain storyline that you can always count on from a Kristin Hannah novel. It’s the story of strong brave women overcoming some of the hardest trials imaginable. The Four Winds is no exception. Throughout this book, there is a strong sense of motherhood and the strength of the human spirit. If there is one thing that I will take away from this novel, it’s that lessons can be learned from history and this lesson specifically is that hard times don’t last. While this story takes place during The Great Depression and in The Dust Bowl region of the United States, this novel couldn’t be more relevant in our modern-day as the world went through the recent pandemic.

Another aspect that I enjoyed from this novel was the focus on American History. While this is a work of fiction, I was impressed with the detail of what life was like for Americans experiencing these hardships during this era. It was heartbreaking, but also inspiring. If you have enjoyed Kristin Hannah’s previous novels, you won’t be disappointed in The Four Winds
