Orem Public Library patrons are known for loving our library books. From board books for the very youngest readers to the most recent and very thick historical study, anyone can find a book they love here.
But what happens when someone loves a book just a little too hard—and the item gets damaged?
Here are two ways patrons can show love to a damaged book until our collection maintenance staff can hopefully repair the damage:
Torn Books
Torn books love being repaired by our mending experts. If you tear a page in a library book, please do not tape it! Our mending experts use archival procedures to fix torn pages whenever possible. However, tape makes that process impossible. Keep the torn page safe until you return the book; hand it to a librarian at the circulation desk and let them know there’s a torn page inside.
And remember: loving library books means not taping torn pages.
Wet Books
If you get a book wet, please place it in a press-seal plastic bag and put it in your freezer. Bring it back to the library frozen and return it to the front desk—not the book drop! Our talented book menders can sometimes fix the damage from wet books if they are frozen quickly. Wet books love to be frozen.
These are just a couple ways our patrons can show love and care to our library books.
