Mooncakes
By Suzanne Walker
Teen Nonfiction (Graphic Novel)
Mooncakes is a fun, graphic, children’s paranormal adventure written by Suzanne Walker. Nova Huang is a teenage witch living next to a forest filled with friendly spirits and animals. One day the peace in the forest is disrupted when she encounters a horse demon that is being held back by her childhood friend Tam Lang, who also happens to be a werewolf. Nova and Tam, along with the help of Nova’s witch aunts, have to work together to free the forest of the dangerous horse demon.
Mooncakes is a story filled with mystery, adventure, family, and a wholesome relationship. The drawings are beautiful with equally beautiful characters that you can’t stop rooting for. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed The Witch Boy by Molly Ostertag or anything by Raina Telgemeier. Don’t miss out on this delightful book!
