Rebecca Stead is a favorite author. The List of Things That Will Not Change is her newest book, and it is wonderful. Bea is a fifth-grader. Her parents get divorced, and her life changes in many ways. Her parents give her a green notebook to help her remember the things that will stay the same. The first three items in the list tell Bea clearly that her parents will always love her and each other. I love Bea’s voice: she is loving, adaptable, and enthusiastic about her life and all of the upcoming changes. She is also capable of making mistakes that have some pretty serious consequences.
